Are You Ready For The New Media Revolution?

Hello my friends!!

The past couple of months have been amazing for me. I have traveled to New Zealand (twice), Thailand, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Albany and Perth presenting my ‘How to Flirt and Convert on Facebook’ Workshop and I still have Newcastle, Karratha, Thailand (again), Geelong and the UK still to go as part of this tour. What a year it has been!! It really is hard to believe that I only launched in February 2010 and now look at where I’m at, a humbling experience I can tell you!!

I am also in the process of fitting out a new, commercial recording studio for my The Web Celeb TV’ which will mean instead of me sitting in my kitchen (oops did I say that), recording my show, I will now have a fully decked out studio with real LIGHTS, CAMERAS and ACTION!! The great news  is that I will now be able to invite special guests and gurus onto the show (on the couch with The Web Celeb) to share their knowledge and expertise with all my viewers.

The studio is also going to be a valuable asset for my clients. They will be able to come into my studio where I will personally teach them all my ‘tricks of the trade’ of how to produce their own Web based Show, alleviating them to ‘Web Celebs’ in their chosen niche.

Exciting stuff hey!!

So this is the reason why my Show has been put on hold for the past couple of months! I promise you, it will be worth the wait when you see what I have in store, just around the corner. If all goes to plan, the studio should be complete before the end of the year (fingers crossed!!)

I’ve had many people, who haven’t been able to get along to one of my workshops ask me to share some of my little gems with them. So in return for your patience (whilst I have been ‘off air’) and for all your wonderful support, I’m going to share with you a snippet of a presentation I did at Sean Grobbelaar’s 9-Day Social Media Challenge.

ENJOY!

The New Rules of Sales and Marketing
Yellow Pages Are You Ready For The New Media Revolution? Before the web came along, there were only 2 ways to get noticed: buy expensive advertising (like the yellow pages) or beg the mainstream media to tell your story for you.  In the old days, traditional, non-targeted advertising via newspapers, magazines, radio, television and direct mail were the only ways to go.  Now, thanks to social media we have a better option: publishing interesting content on the Web that buyers want to consume.  The skills that worked offline to help you buy and beg your way in are the skills of interruption and coercion. Success online comes from thinking like a journalist and a thought leader.

One-way interruption marketing is yesterday’s message
Elvis Are You Ready For The New Media Revolution?Seth Godin (marketing legend) was the first person to come up with the term: interruption marketing. Under this system, ad agencies sit in hip offices dreaming up ways to interrupt people so that they pay attention to a one-way message. Think about it: you’re watching your favourite TV show, so the advertiser’s job is to craft a commercial to get your attention, when you’d rather be doing something else.  Moreover, the messages in advertising are product-focused one way spin.  The web is different. Instead of one-way interruption, web marketing is about delivering useful content at just the precise moment that a buyer needs it.

Brick Wall Are You Ready For The New Media Revolution? The internet and social media have transformed the way companies, small and large, communicate with their customers.  Customers now crave, real, authentic and transparent relationships with multiple-way dialogue.  Here’s a bold statement, even traditional static websites are becoming a thing of the past! Why because it’s like sending your customers to a brick wall, they can’t communicate with you ‘in real time’, they can’t ‘hang out’ with other like minded people that may also be interested in your products and services and they can’t really get to know you, the person behind the logo, brand or name.

All humans crave ‘authentic’ attention and connection, period! You’ve only got to look at the huge popularity of Facebook as proof of this.  Facebook has 600 million users, and they’re smart, affluent, internet-savvy people whom marketers can no longer ignore.

Welcome to the New Media Revolution!
A different kind of communication and marketing is now required in order to in build relationships with these influential players.  If you think you are the only business doing what you do, think again! You might have had a ‘unique selling proposition’ (USP) when you first launched but now in today’s competitive online world, your uniqueness is becoming the norm.

New Media Revolution Are You Ready For The New Media Revolution? The more crowded the global marketplace becomes the more challenging it is to dominate and own your niche.  In order to stand out in the crowd you need to have social appeal.  Consumers have heard every ‘sales trick’ in the book before so no amount of cajoling is going to convince them to go on a buy from you; you need to build trust, credibility and rapport before you can sell to them!  Although the ‘Facebook Marketing’ game may seem daunting, it’s actually quite simple, anyone can do it and I’m explain how!

For the next couple of weeks (whilst my studio is being built) I will be sure to bring you, the latest and greatest marketing tips and strategies to assist you to build your brand and propel your profits.

So until next week, you remember to keep struttin your stuff!
